Safety Upon Return

As we continue to maneuver our way through the pandemic, it’s important to us here at Bayshore Elite to keep our athletes safe during gymnastics. On Monday, January 25th, California lifted the regional stay at home order in San Mateo County. This order’s lifting allows for outdoor dining, higher capacity in retail stores, and personal services such as salons, spas, etc., to open. We are currently in the purple Tier 1; therefore Bayshore Elite is not yet allowed to open for the inside operation of our recreational and preschool programs. You can read more about it here. With the reopening of our preschool and recreational programs on February 1st, we wanted to help our athletes stay healthy upon returning to their classes. Below we have provided some tips to help keep kids stay safe and healthy when returning to gymnastics:

  • ♦     Wash or sanitize hands before and after class: Kids should wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water or use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if the former is unavailable.

  • ♦     Wear a mask during the entirety of the class: Kids will be required to wear a mask during their class in order to keep themselves and others around them safe. Our staff is also required to wear masks while coaching.

  • ♦     Keep at least a 6 feet distance from others: We will do our due diligence to keep the children safe from each other throughout their class.

  • ♦     Change out of gymnastics clothes upon finishing classes: We encourage kids to change out of their gymnastics clothes as soon as possible after completing their class. The CDC recommends not shaking clothes to prevent the possibility of germ transference through the air.

  • ♦     Dress athletes in warm attire for class: As we’re still in the colder months of the season, it’s important to dress your child in warm clothes since they will be outside for the entirety of their class. This can include sweaters, hats, and tennis shoes.

  • ♦     Keep kids at home who show any signs of possible illness: In addition to dealing with the COVID 19 virus, we are also in the regular flu season. If your child has any fever or flu symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, runny nose, etc., it’s critical to keep them at home to prevent any illness from spreading.

We will continue to do our part as a gym to keep all mats and equipment sanitized and clean for our athletes. Check out our post below on “Pandemic Update and How We’re Handling It” to read about our new in-gym policies regarding COVID-19.
